Tools & Services

In a constantly changing environment, there are no ready-made solutions. We need tools to trigger innovation processes. The tools we have gathered are evolving resources designed to facilitate decision-making, envision scenarios, and create value. Like our advisory services, these tools help communities, organisations and regions make sense of complexity and act with awareness. It is an ecosystem of tools and support that helps us perceive the underlying rhythms of phenomena, cultures, human relationships, and changing habits.

We align design with the environmental and human ecosystems through a bird’s-eye view and a broad-spectrum approach to listening.
Because we need to resonate together.

Design tools

A template, a deck of cards, a canvas or the syllabus for an innovative course. Every design tool is a means to an end. They are resources capable of guiding an organic organisation toward its broader design goal, whether that be a poem, a PowerPoint presentation, a lecture, or an economic activity. It creates value. The tool acquires direction and meaning within the context in which it is applied, but this context must not be confused with the end itself.

Infographics, analytics & canvases

Infographics and templates that can be adapted or reworked for analysing and managing organisational processes.

Actors map

This tool visually represents the progression of a decision-making or organisational process. It illustrates the organisations and/or key individuals involved, including those directly affected by and those influencing the system.

Actors Mapping Open Access Manual

This is an open-source tool for mapping actors and sectoral policies. It allows you to record stakeholders and the links between institutions and regulations. You can also assess the implementation, impacts, and timelines of these regulations. Additionally, it supports the visualization of decision-making processes.

Manuals, syllabuses and guidelines

Materials that support, facilitate and develop the skills that businesses and organisations will need most by 2030 (World Economic Forum, 2025):

  • technological literacy;

  • creative thinking;

  • resilience, flexibility and agility;

  • motivation and self awareness;

  • curiosity and lifelong learning;

  • leadership, networking skills and social influence;

  • talent management;

  • analytical thinking;

  • systems thinking and environmental management.

A dictionary for the new millenium

The Social Resonance glossary. Words for the new millenium.

  • Patterns of Connections Fritjov Capra

    Patterns of Connections

    Essential Essays from Five Decades

    Fritjov Capra

    Two good reasons to read it:
    because it offers the best definition of connective intelligence and because it teaches you to see the world through a new lens.

  • innovazione territoriale

    Innovazione Territoriale

    Metodi, tecniche di progettazione, casi di studio

    Elena Battaglini

    Two good reasons to read it:
    because it is a book that brings together and revisits thirty years of study and action research on ecological innovation and participatory local development, presenting the Social Resonance method in a style that is both scientific and, at the same time, pleasantly accessible.

  • La società e lo spazio Alfredo Mela, Elena Battaglini, Anna Laura Palazzo

    La società e lo spazio

    Quadri teorici, scenari e casi di studio

    Alfredo Mela, Elena Battaglini, Anna Laura Palazzo

    Two good reasons to read it:
    because, as Heinz von Foester argued: “The hard sciences are so successful because they deal with soft problems, and the soft sciences struggle to take off because they are the ones faced with hard problems”.

  • Resonance - A Sociology of Our Relationship to the world - Hartmut Rosa

    Resonance

    A Sociology of Our Relationship to the world

    Hartmut Rosa

    Two good reasons to read it:
    because a philosopher of our times – as Hartmut Rosa likes to describe himself – had the courage to challenge the disciplinary silos from which he came and was able to provide a ‘relational’ theoretical framework for the social sciences and humanities.

  • Design Journeys through Complex Systems di Peter Jones, Kristel van Ael

    Design Journeys through Complex Systems

    Practice Tools for Systemic Design

    Peter Jones, Kristel van Ael

    Two good reasons to read it:
    it combines design systems thinking tools with the expertise of two pioneers in systems design, enabling readers to reassess, refocus and tackle complex issues and thought processes. If you are a change agent or work in innovation, the techniques outlined in this book will guide you on the path to success.

  • Copertina libro Mente e Natura di Gregory Bateson

    Mente e natura

    Un’unità necessaria

    Gregory Bateson

    Two good reasons to read it:
    because only a great biologist, anthropologist, psychiatrist and founder of cybernetics could teach us to challenge the reductionist thinking that still underpins academic disciplinary silos, and because he has guided us to recognise, within each of us, those sparks of knowledge that unite us with all living creatures, enabling us to build a new ecological wisdom.

  • James Hillman - Politica della bellezza

    Politica della bellezza

    James Hillman

    Two good reasons to read it:
    because, as the great philosopher and psychoanalyst wrote, “Beauty is the way in which others touch our senses, reach our hearts and draw us into life”; and because beauty is the stance, the attitude, the vision that guides our ethical commitment in the world, making it desirable.

Services for territorial and social innovation

Perceiving the underlying frequency of phenomena, cultures, human relationships and changing habits is not easy.
In the current context of rapid social, technological and environmental change, knowing how to listen to and feel the ‘beat’ of the world is essential in order to optimise energy and resources. This unites people and territories, as well as intentions, ideas, projects and purpose, creating generative resonance for integrated objectives.
Territorial and social innovation is a key driver of local community development. We provide consultancy and advisory services for public bodies, businesses, managers, designers and communities involved in designing and managing innovative initiatives. These services support clients in responding to the specific challenges of their territories in new and resilient ways.

Our services and tools provide valuable support in creating resonance between the various parts of a project, thereby increasing the effectiveness of actions disproportionately.

We ought to resonate together to generate collective intelligence

The method

Strategic choices can create noise that sometimes overwhelms the voice of communities. This is why the Social Resonance method takes a new and unique approach. It enables local communities and organisations to adapt, evolve and anticipate change, just as natural ecosystems do. Self-organisation lies at the heart of the Social Resonance method. In other words, it facilitates collective intelligence and transformative resilience, enabling a system to evolve according to the most effective principles of thriving natural ecosystems.

Why choose Social Resonance

Social Resonance is rooted in a methodology and mindset that embraces complexity and uncertainty, transforming them into opportunities and well-being. Our team has over thirty years of experience and continues to grow and evolve through a community of experts and up-to-date case studies. We don’t have a ready-made solution. We build it by tailoring our approach to concrete objectives within a real-world context. Our advisory builds lasting local capacity by promoting governance processes and enhancing human and local resources.
